“Scriptless” testing puts your true skills to the test!

At 9:30 a.m. on December 7, the office staff at the Susa Foods headquarters were, as usual, hard at work at their desks. Suddenly, the fire alarm sounded, and an unscripted fire‑response evacuation drill commenced throughout the building.

Emergency Evacuation

All departments promptly organized the emergency evacuation of their employees. Everyone immediately set aside their tasks, covered their mouths and noses, and swiftly evacuated along the fire escape routes to the designated assembly point. The entire evacuation process was conducted safely and in an orderly manner.

While evacuating, two employees from the Marketing Center promptly retrieved nearby fire extinguishers and assisted in extinguishing the fire source; they demonstrated proficient equipment handling and executed standard firefighting procedures.

All personnel in the office building must assemble at the emergency evacuation assembly point within five minutes. Each department shall conduct a headcount to ensure that all individuals inside the building have safely reached the designated location.

Commentary

Following the drill, Administrative Director Zhao Youwei provided feedback: Through this unscripted emergency exercise, we assessed the management team’s ability to organize evacuations under unexpected circumstances and evaluated all employees’ emergency evacuation skills and response capabilities. We must move beyond our previous reliance on pre‑established emergency plans and adopt a mindset of maintaining a constant state of readiness at all times. Only then can we ensure that, in the event of an incident, we respond appropriately and effectively.

This unscripted emergency drill for the office building achieved the intended results. Unscripted fire‑emergency evacuation drills effectively assess an organization’s capabilities in areas such as emergency response coordination, information reception and dissemination, early warning and public notification, perimeter security and personnel evacuation, and the rapid development of emergency response plans. Susa Foods will remain vigilant about workplace safety, continuing to conduct unscripted fire‑emergency evacuation drills across all areas of the plant to substantially enhance all employees’ ability to respond to fires and thereby effectively prevent and reduce fire‑related incidents.
